People like to know the artist before they buy the art. How long have they been painting? What do they paint? Are they serious about their art or will they be gone in a year or so.
More than half a century ago I began drawing and painting as an apprentice to the late William Carson, a professional landscape artist and the late William Stephens, an English portrait painter who painted museum quality portraits. I learned their techniques and use them often, depending upon subject matter. I later enrolled in formal art classes and eventually Ryerson University where I studied art and architecture.
Most of my commissions have been portraits, painted in a smooth museum style in oils. Some are posthumous and are not shown on this website out of respect. I only paint portraits using oils because I need the paint to be wet until I get the features right. My portraits are done mainly from photos.
Besides portraits, landscapes, old broken houses and spooky century homes are among my favorite subjects to paint. Mystic is the key. I like paintings that question the past but never quite provide the answers. Mysteries remain. I continue to paint in both oils and acrylics and market my work through the internet and galleries.
